solution report interpretation

Dear all,

I have problems with understanding the solution report of GAMS.

Within the SolEQU GAMS shows the results of an equation which calculates a variable for a set (several rows) in the column “levels”.
However, in the SolVAR GAMS doesn’t show the levels of the variables calculated in the equation. Instead, the level column is empty.

Can anyone give me a hint what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Amanda:

Could you be interpreting the dot (“.”) in the LEVEL column as meaning empty? The dot means zero, in the same was as in the LOWER, UPPER, and MARGINAL columns.

If this is not your problem, show us something we do not have to guess.

Ah okay, that might mean that GAMS calculates values for the other variables but due to the =G=, FSDC(g) is zero.
The equation is:

VMCE(g)… leos_ww(g)*mc(“w1”)*x(“w1”) + leos_ww(g)*mc(“w1”)*x(“w2”) + leos_s(g)*mc(“s”)*x(“s”) +
leos_r(g)*mc(“r”)*x(“r”) + leos_b(g)*mc(“b”)*x(“b”) + leos_p_P(g)*mc(“p”)*x(“p”) + leos_sm(g)*mc(“sm”)*x(“sm”) + leos_p_S(g)slpx(“p”) =G= FSDC(g);

leos_…(g) are variables (pre-triangular ones)
mc(…) is a parameter
x(…) is a decision variable

the SolVAR for x(…)

---- VAR x activities (ha)

LOWER LEVEL UPPER MARGINAL

w1 1.000 50.000 +INF .
w2 1.000 7.473 +INF .
s 1.000 15.227 +INF .
r 1.000 25.000 +INF .
b . . +INF -64.291
p 1.000 2.300 +INF .
sm . . +INF -27.811

and for leos_…(g) (as an example since these variables exist for each x(…))

---- VAR leos_ww labour requirement for wheat depending on field size (in Akh p
er ha)

LOWER LEVEL UPPER MARGINAL

gew1 1.000 7.717 +INF .
gew2 1.000 7.248 +INF .
gew3 1.000 7.151 +INF .
gew4 1.000 7.352 +INF .
gew5 1.000 6.956 +INF .
gew6 1.000 7.083 +INF .
gew7 1.000 7.550 +INF .
gew8 1.000 7.770 +INF .
gew9 1.000 6.860 +INF .
gew10 1.000 7.006 +INF .
gew11 1.000 7.786 +INF .
gew12 1.000 7.371 +INF .

When I put =E= instead of =G= in the equation above, it is the other way around: GAMS gives out the SolVAR for FSDC (which are constant what should not be since they are dependend on field size expressed in leos_…(g)) and at the same time the SolEQU is zero.

I don’t get the GAMS-language. How can I get different FSDC variables for each g? Or is there a logical mistake?

Thanks a lot,
Amanda
