I am converting Excel spreadsheets accessed by GDXXRW that have “index” sheets. Are there some examples of the use of the index option in Connect?

We only ship some basic tests for the ExcelReader/Writer index functionality as part of testlib (caxlsr and caxlsrw). They are not very instructive.
We tried to keep some kind of backward compatibility with gdxxrw’s index reader and writer, but only gdxxrw’s basic index functionality maps one-to-one to ExcelReader/Writers index functionality. I think one can get most of the gdxxrw (index) functionality with ExcelReader/Writer but not in a way that it works for both systems.
If you are stuck with a particular workbook to get a working gdxxrw index functionality ported to ExcelReader/Writer, you can always send this to support@gams.com (or directly to some of your GAMS buddies) to get some concrete help.
