How do I install solvers using .opt files?

Dear experts,
I have downloaded a model that is solved using MCP-solver PATH. But PATH is not included in my license. So I would like to try some of the MCP-solvers which are included. However, when I try e.g. MILES or GAMSCHK, the program looks for a file called “miles.op3”/“gamschk.op3” which I don’t have. How do I get those files?

I hope you can help me.

Best regards,

Your model instructed the solver to look for an option file (by specifying mymodel.optfile=3; somewhere in the GAMS code). If the file is not there, that is not a problem. It seems that you don’t know what to put in there anyway. So just ignore the error. If you want to fiddle with MILES options create this file and put some MILES options in there. These options are there to tune the solver, they are not essential fr solving the model.

GAMSCHK is not a solver. It just checks the solution provided by a real MCP solver for feasibility and complementarity. So it seems that MILES is your only option. You may contact sales@gams.com to arrange for an evaluation license for PATH.

Good luck,
-Michael
