The file ‘gdxxrw.exe’ (located in my directory ‘C:\GAMS\win64\27.1’) mysteriously disappears approximately one minute after the installation finishes. This has happened to me five times now (after uninstalling and reinstalling). I am working with the MS Windows 64 bit version on a brand-new machine (with no previous versions of GAMS installed).
The problem does not occur when installing release 26.1.0.
I have sent an email to support@gams.com with additional detail.
Sounds like a virus checker to me.
The solution in this case is to first update your virus checker and see if that helps - maybe somebody reported this already. If not, you should report this false positive to the provider of your virus checker. If they are any good, they will update some virus definition files and the problem will be solved.
In the meantime, consider turning off your virus checker. Also, you can sometimes declare a directory off-limits to the virus checker, e.g. C:\gams\win64.

Spot on, Steve. My antivirus software is CylancePROTECT. It quarantines only this one file. And interestingly, it does not do it during installations of other GAMS versions (e.g., 26.1).
Good idea to let the company who makes the antivirus software know about this false positive as well.
