Hello,
I noticed an apparent inconsistency in Example 3 of the “Error Messages” section of the GAMS 54 tutorial:
The text says that Seattle is spelled differently in the table than in the set declaration and that this produces Error 170, “Domain violation for element.” However, the code currently shown uses seattle in both places:
sets
i canning plants / seattle, san-diego /
j markets / new-york, chicago, topeka /;
table d(i,j) distance in thousand of miles
new-york chicago topeka
seattle 2.5 1.7 1.8
san-diego 2.5 1.8 1.4;
Because seattle matches the element declared in set i, the displayed code should not produce Error 170. To demonstrate the intended domain violation, the first table row presumably should be misspelled as seatle (with one “t”):
seatle 2.5 1.7 1.8
Could you please correct the example so that the code matches the explanation and displayed error message?
Thank you.
