Availability of the New GAMS Personal License

Hello everyone,

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the new GAMS Personal License. This license officially supersedes the older GAMS Community License.

In addition to this new option, we would also like to remind the community about our existing free licensing options for academic users. Below is an overview of both options.

GAMS Personal License

The Personal License removes the model size restrictions (variables and constraints) previously imposed by the Community License.

  • Supported Software: Valid for both GAMS and GAMSPy.

  • Included Solvers: Access is limited to the open-source solvers bundled with GAMS (such as HiGHS, SCIP, IPOPT, and SHOT).

  • Exclusions: Commercial solvers (e.g., CPLEX, CONOPT, Gurobi) are not included.

  • Terms of Use: Strictly for personal, non-commercial projects. It is intended for students, researchers, and hobbyists whose work does not require proprietary commercial solvers.

Free Academic GAMSPy License

For users in academic environments who require access to commercial optimization software, this option of course remains available.

  • Supported Software: Valid specifically for GAMSPy.

  • Included Solvers: Includes a selection of commercial solvers.

  • Requirements: Registration requires a valid university email address.

  • Terms of Use: Strictly for academic research and education.
