The link between Matlab and Gams

Hi all,

I am a new leaner of Gams and have problem in building the link
between Matlab and Gams. I installed Matlab 2010a and Gams 23.6 on my
computer. And I used the guidance of GDXMRW: Interfacing GAMS and
MATLAB by Michael C. Ferris, Rishabh Jainy,Steven Dirkse,2010 to build
the link.

When I run the test of gdxmrw03, it reminds that “error using rgdx,
file read1.gdx not found”.
When I run the test of gdxmrw04, it reminds that “GDXDIFF error: input
file not found writeset.gdx”.

I am grateful if someone can help me fix the problem. Thank you.

Hi Babak,

I tried two days to solve the problem. A guy in my group said the new
version of Gams does not work. So I uninstalled the Gams 23.6, and
installed an older version— Gams 23.3 and the corresponding Matgams.
And use MATLAB and GAMS: Interfacing Optimization and Visualization
Software by Michael C. Ferris, 2005 to build the interface. Now it
works. Hope this can help you.

Hi Babak,

Yes, my Matlab version is r2010a, and Gams 23.3 works with it. You
can try this way. Good luck!

Lifan,

I would not recommend using the older versions of the tools - they are not supported and they must be installed separately or in addition to the GAMS system. Also, I would have expected them to be less likely to work than the newer routines, although your experience is contrary to that.

Can you say anything about the OS version you’re running this under? I’d like to verify that things are running as expected.

Regards,

-Steve
