error: gamscmex.exe stopped working

Hi
I have a LP model in GAMS with CPLEX solver. I download latest version of
GAMS for solve my problem. (GAMS 24.0.2). My machine is 64 bit & my window
is windows7 ultimate. Some times (not always) suddenly during running I see
an error: gamscmex.exe stopped working & then solve is stopped. I thought
maybe this version has bug. So I download older version. But in that version
also sometimes this error occurred.
anybody knows why this error occurred?

We have also the same problem in our GAMS applications with many versions of GAMS and also with many solvers.
Fortunately it occurs rarely.
Our interpretation is that it must be an error of communication between GAMS execution and Windows (we use Windows 7 64bit).

It would be good if GAMS support look at it.

Prof. Capros,

We take all bugs seriously, especially a bug of the form that causes GAMS/Base to pop up an error box and indicate it has stopped running. This is a very serious problem and we are happy to pursue it aggressively. Unfortunately, fixing a problem like this almost always starts with a reproducible test case. Without such a case, the chance that we can find the cause of the problem is much reduced. So if you or the original poster could contact GAMS Support and pass along such a test case that would be a good start to fixing this issue.

If you don’t have such a test case, I would encourage you to contact GAMS Support in any case to discuss other potential ways to debug and fix your issue.

Regards,

-Steve

Dear Steve
Thank you for prompt answering. Unfortunately the error is not reproducible. It occurs rarely and when we rerun the same job it does not occur again. It seems to us that it occurs when the computer is overcharged by simultaneously running GAMS jobs.

Pantelis
